MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Riley County Police Department reported two separate accidents Tuesday in Manhattan that resulted in the drivers being sent to the hospital with possible head injuries.

The first accident happened on Humboldt Street near 6th Street at 12 PM on May 29th.

Police say Erika Pratt, 73, was driving east on Humboldt in her Chevy Cobalt when she swerved out of her lane to avoid another car she thought was drifting over into her lane. She ended up striking a concrete wall on the north side of the roadway.

Pratt was transported to the Mercy Regional Health Center.

The second accident happened at 10th Street and Yuma Street at 3:30 on May 29th.

According to police, Jesus Parra Moreno, 19, from Ogden, was driving his 2002 Dodge Stratus south on 10th Street and failed to stop at a stop sign, striking a four door Chevy driven by 29-year-old Ashley Meek from Manhattan. Meek was transported to the Mercy Regional Health Center.

Jesus Parra Moreno was arrested for No Driver’s License and Unlawful Use of an ID Card.
