TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- At the Statehouse today a Senate Committee debated whether to delay or change requirements that the state's utility companies use more renewable fuel.

The current deadline is generating 15 percent of their energy through a renewable source by 2016 and 20 percent by 2020.

The Senate Education Committee heard testimony today on renewing the state's 20 million property tax for k through12 education.

No one spoke against the proposal. The taxes will raise about 575 million dollars a year.
