RUSSELL, Kan. (AP) _ Norma Jean Steele, the sister of Kansas Sen. Bob Dole, has died. She was 86.

Steele was born on Oct. 24, 1925, to Bina Marie and Doran Ray Dole. Her husband, Allen Thomas Steele Jr., preceded her in death.

Steele's survivors include Dole, who represented Kansas in the U.S. Senate from 1969 to 1996 and was the GOP presidential nominee in the 1996 presidential race, which he lost.

She is also survived by two sons, Michael of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Joseph, of Arkansas City, Kan., as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services and burial were Saturday in Russell.
