OSAGE CO., Kan. (WIBW) - A massive search in Osage County Monday yielded some questionable finds.
Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn said crews searching for human remains in rural Carbondale yesterday discovered numerous bones and bone fragments.
About 40 people participated in the search, draining two ponds and going through a large burn pile over three days, Dunn said.
The Osage County Sheriff's Office in a release said the items were sent to First Call Morgue in Kansas City to determine whether they are human or animal.
The facility is working to identify remains, including a human skull, found over the weekend.
A resident discovered decomposing remains Saturday in the area of 118th Court in rural Carbondale.
The Sheriff's Office says testing could take several months.
Anyone with information is asked to call Osage Crime Stoppers at 1-877-OS-Crime.
