TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW-TV) -- A minivan and school bus collided Wednesday morning in Topeka.

It happened at the intersection of SW Fairlawn and Huntoon around 7:45 a.m. Police say the minivan ran a red light and the bus was unable to stop in time, causing it to hit the van.

Six students were on the bus en route to Williams Magnet School, according to USD 501.

Just after 9 a.m. a police spokesperson told 13 News that no children were injured in the collision. A short time later the police spokesperson made a correction, telling 13 News that two children and one adult were injured. One of the injured children was riding the bus, the other was a passenger in the minivan.

The injured student from the bus told crews her knee hurt, so she was taken to an area hospital to be treated, USD 501 reported.

The driver of the van and child passenger were also taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
