TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- County Commissioners in Salina have confirmed the closing of the juvenile detention center.
Sheriff Glen Kochanowski told commissioners he plans to close the counties juvenile detention facility early this week.
Commission Chairman Randy Duncan told the Salina Journal it's unclear wether the sheriff has authority to close the center.
Duncan says he is aware there were some issues at the facility, but he didn't know if they were temporary or long term. Other commissioners hope the county can find ways to deal with the juvenile offenders affected.
