TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A major road closure in the capital city could slow your commute.
SW 17th St. between Washburn Ave.and MacVicar Ave. will close Monday for reconstruction.
The project will replace concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks, sidewalk ramps, concrete pavement, pavement patching and asphalth overlay. Storm sewers will also be repaired.
The first phase will stretch from Washburn to College. The second will go from College to MacVicar.
Motorists can follow the primary posted 21st St. detour. College Hill businesses can be accessed via 15th St.
The project is estimated to cost $2.5 million and is being paid for through the half cent sales tax.
The closure is expected to last through the end of November.
