Fatal Rollover Accident Shuts Down Interstate Ramps
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Ramps at the I-70, I-470 interchange in west Topeka were closed Wednesday morning following a fatal rollover accident.
Police identified the deceased individual Wednesday as Jayamairah Jackson, a 16-year-old from Topeka. The other occupant of the vehicle was Trent Robbins, a 17-year-old from Topeka.
The two were driving an SUV westbound on I-70 then took the flyover to eastbound I-470. The driver lost control near the end of the flyover and the SUV left the roadway coming to rest in the ditch along the west side of I-470.
Both the driver and passenger were transported to Stormont-Vail Hospital.
The Topeka Police Department called out their reconstruction team and shut down the ramps for Eastbound I-70 to Eastbound I-470 and Westbound I-70 to Eastbound I-470 Wednesday morning.
The accident remains under investigation.
