Road Closes For Construction Around New Menards

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A new road is being built in southwest Topeka to allow for easier traffic to a new Menards home improvement store.

According to the City of Topeka Engineering Traffic Section, 17th Street will be closed from Urish to Broadview beginning at 7:00 a.m. August 13. This includes a complete closure of 17th and Urish.

Crews will construct a road from Urish to Kingsrow Road. It will take about four months to construct. During that time, a detour will be posted that will direct traffic from Urish to 21st to Wanamaker to Huntoon and back to Urish.

The scheduled reopening date is December 7, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.
