(WIBW) Authorities say a Fort Riley soldier was killed Thursday evening in a one-vehicle accident in Manhattan.
Riley County Police and the Kansas Highway Patrol were called around 6:15 pm to a motorcycle accident in the 2000 block of McDowell Creek Road.
KHP says 29 year-old Jose Laureanomercado of Manhattan, was driving his motorcycle northbound on McDowell Creek Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, drove onto a gravel shoulder, lost control and fell off the bike, hitting the guardrail. He was ejected off the bike. Troopers believe speed was a factor in the crash.
KHP says Laureanomercado was wearing a helmet.
