Republicans Want To Trim The Kansas Budget

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Republicans anticipate trimming the Kansas budget and considering additional tax cuts.

The GOP appears poised to maintain its 32 to 8 majority in the State Senate and a 92 to 33 majority in the House following Tuesday's election.

Massive income tax cuts enacted this year have left the state facing a budget gap and Governor Sam Brownback would need the newly Constituted Legislature's approval for spending and other measures.

Conservatives see the problem as manageable and are still in favor of eliminating state income taxes altogether.
