Rally In Favor Of Keeping Saturday Mail Delivery

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-The cut of Saturday mail caused local Topekans to rally Sunday afternoon.

A group called "Concerned Citizens of Kansas" rallied at 29th and Wanamaker.

The postal service is planning to end the six-day mail service, which means the Saturday mail service will be cut.

Rally supporters say they want to protect Saturday mail delivery and demand that congress deliver a new plan for the postal service.

"It's important for a lot of reasons; one, we're talking about delaying the mail an extra day and that could be a big issue for ,again, rural communities which that is what they depend on," said Karen Lewis, Branch 10 President.

Rally supporters also say that keeping the six-day mail will help postal service workers maintain their full time jobs.
