MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Due to the rain there will be a slight delay to the start of Friday. VIP gates will open at 11 a.m. with VIP lunch still taking place at 11:30 as originally scheduled. Parking lots will open at 1 p.m., while the festival gates will open at 2 p.m.
With the rain out of the way it should be clear skies from here on out. The forecast calls for temperatures in the mid 80's and no rain; perfect weather to come out and enjoy a summer festival. Especially with a lineup includes country music heavy weight Jason Aldean, platinum selling recording artist Jake Owen, hit artist Colt Ford, Parmalee, and Bush Hawg.
The eighteenth annual Kicker Country Stampede Presented by Verizon Wireless kicked off yesterday with a lot of great music, thousands of excited fans, and a short disruption by nature. No Justice took the stage first at 5:00 pm, proving why they have become such a big deal in on the Red Dirt scene. The Cadillac Black followed at 6:30 pm rocking the crowd with their own brand of southern rock.
About 8:00 p.m. Thursday a thunderstorm moved through the area, delaying festival activities for an hour and a half. However, the rain certainly did not dampen the spirits of festival goers who started pouring back into the festival after the storm had passed. Originally scheduled for 8:00 pm, hit recording artist Thomas Rhett took the stage at 9:30 p.m. Platinum recording artists Little Big Town kicked off their performance starting at about 11:30 p.m. to a packed house.
Saturday features Trace Adkins, Scotty McCreery, Casey James, LoCash Cowboys, and 94.5 Country Road to Stampede winners in a tie Tyler Ahlgren and Belles and Whistles, The 2013 festival will wrap on Sunday with Miranda Lambert performing in the headlining spot. She will be preceded by performances by Randy Houser, Morgan Frazier, and CrossCountry.
Tickets and camping are available at the gates. The remainder of the festival runs through June 30th.
