RILEY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Riley County police are investigating an alleged online interaction between a 14-year-old girl and 35-year-old man.
Officials say the communication occurred between May 28th - May 30th and was reported to authorities by the teen’s parents.
According to Officer Matt Droge, RCPD’s spokesman, the 35-year-old man is reported to have said things of an inappropriate or sexually explicit manner to the young girl through online social media accounts.
The 14-year-old is from Ogden. Droge said the suspect in the case “lives outside of Manhattan but still in the state of Kansas.” The names of those involved and other specifics were not released.
The reported online conversations are being investigated as Promoting Obscenities to a Minor.
Officer Droge encouraged parents to talk to their children about their online interactions, including those made on social media websites.
