TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Topeka residents had the chance to help patients in the Capital City by donating the gift of life.
The Community Blood Center held a blood drive at the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library.
Organizers say their biggest needs are for 0 negative, B negative and A negative blood donors.
The CBC is the primary supplier of blood and blood components to over 70 hospitals and medical centers in the Kansas City region.
Organizers say the frigid temps aren't the biggest problems.
"Weather can have an affect on that people being able to get out and get to the blood drives. We haven't had much problems with that, but probably illness is probably one of the biggest things that's cut down on our donor populations," John Fassnacht, Collections Supervisor.
Donors who gave today had the chance to win fabulous door prizes from gift cards to accommodations at a four star hotel.
