Prosecutors Plan Retrial In Gibson Hung Jury

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County prosecutors say they plan to retry a second defendant whose trial ended in a hung jury on murder charges.

An August 23rd hearing is set to discuss a potential retrial for 18-year-old Daquan Wilkins.

A judge declared a mistrial Thursday when jurors were unable to reach a verdict on five counts related to the July 2011 shooting death of Natalie Gibson. They did find Wilkins guilty on one lesser count for an unrelated incident.

He's among nine people charged in the Gibson death. The jury for Anceo Stovall also couldn't reach a verdict on charges related to the murder. He'll be retried in October.
