Preliminary Hearing Date Set For Adults In Nine-Person Felony Murder Case

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A preliminary hearing date of November 10, 2011 has been set for five defendants charged with felony first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated robbery, and seven other person felonies in connection with the shooting death of Natalie F. Gibson, 40 of Topeka, that occurred on July 21, 2011, and an aborted home invasion on June 25, 2011, in the 2800-block of SW Plass.

Michael D. Wilkins, 22, Olathe, Kan.; Ronald Wakes, 20, Topeka, Kan.; Bayate Covington, 20, Topeka, Kan.; Anceo Stovall, 26, Topeka, Kan.; and Kevin Wilkins, 27, Topeka, Kan. are set to appear in Shawnee County District Court, on, November 10, 2011.

In addition, an October 6, 2011 date has been set to hear the motion to consolidate the five pending adult criminal cases filed by the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office.

As in all criminal cases, a person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The charging documents filed merely contain allegations of criminal conduct.
