Prairie Band Tribe Awards Grants

MAYETTA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Prairie Band Pottawatomie Nation gave away more than $85,000 to area charities Thursday.

Tribal leaders awarded money to 27 area groups that focus on areas like education, health, community service and spiritual wellness.

Midland Care, the American Legion and Topeka Blues Society were among those receiving $5,000 donations.

The Make-a-Wish Foundation received $9,000 and the Arthritis Foundation received a donation of $10,000.

The Prairie Band Pottawatomie Nation is a federally recognized sovereign nation with nearly 5,000 members.
