Poster Contest To Put The Brakes On Fatalities

TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) -- The Kansas Department of Transportation is reaching out to kids to spread the message to increase safety on the roads.

Put The Brakes On Fatalities Day is a nationwide effort to curb traffic fatalities, and kids 5 to 10 are encouraged to enter artwork for the statewide poster contest.

All entries must be postmarked by Friday, September 20.

Three statewide winners will receive family packages to Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City and a $50 gift card to Quik Trip.

Eighteen regional winners in the six regions and age groups will each receive a bicycle and a helmet donated by Safe Kids Kansas.

Age groups are: 5-7, 8-10 and 11-13.

Entries should be on a 8 1/2-by-11-inch paper, with the child's full name, age, mailing address, county, a parents name and contact phone number on the back.
