MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Officers with the Riley County Police Department and Kansas State University Police Department surrounded a Manhattan home Wednesday morning after receiving a call about a violent attack.

Officers were dispatched to a home located at 1208 Ratone Street around 7:30 AM in reference to an aggravated battery.

Officials say a man called 911, reporting that he was attacked with a blunt object and that he escaped but he told police that his attacker was still inside the house.

Multiple officers formed a perimeter around the home. KSU police assisted Riley County officers.

RCPD spokesman Lieutenant Josh Kyle says the officers made contact with people inside the house and got them to come outside without incident.

No other details on the incident were released. Wednesday.

On Thursday, Kyle revealed that 29-year-old Shawn Brown has been arrested in connection with the incident and charged with Aggravated Battery. Kyle says the beating stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Brown and the victim, 26-year-old Gregory Cloppe, that culminated at Brown's house on Ratone Street and ended when Brown used a "blunt instrument on the victim." Cloppe was not badly injured in the attack. Lieutenant Kyle would not say what kind of weapon was used in the assault.
