TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office is investigating a drowning that claimed the life of one person in northeast Topeka early Thursday morning.
Police say the incident was reported around 6 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 5200 block of N.E. Kendall Wood Drive.
Police say 29-year-old Matthew David Thomas was found in a pool at the residence.
Authorities say their preliminary investigation shows Thomas died of an accidental drowning. They say it does not appear suspicious, but their investigation continues.
