TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Police evacuated homes and apartment complexes around 17th and SW Western after finding a suspicious explosive device.
Officials were called to the scene, 1631 SW Western, around 6:00 p.m. and say it's part of another investigation.
Lt. Russ Klumpp with the TPD Criminal Investigation Division says they were called for a separate investigation. As they were talking to the family, they noticed a device that resembled a grenade.
The device has been identified as a military training grenade. There are no explosives in the device and it doesn't have any fuses attached to it.
