TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Planned Parenthood confirms that its Kansas clinic will get a state license to continue performing abortions.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced Thursday that one of the state's three providers will get a license so that it can continue performing abortions as of Friday. The department wouldn't name the provider.
But President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Brownlie said Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri was told by the department it was getting a license.
He said he expected Planned Parenthood to withdraw a federal lawsuit it filed Thursday against the state's new abortion regulations.
The state's two other clinics have not been inspected for licensing under a new law taking effect Friday.
