TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A collision between two pick-ups shut down an intersection Monday near Forbes Field and the Montara neighborhood.
Just after 7 am, the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office says a truck northbound on South Topeka Boulevard driven by 37-year-old Sherri Despain of Topeka was hit by a southbound pickup turning on to University Boulevard. The second truck was driven by 55-year-old Douglas Peak of Huron, Kan. Authorities say Peak failed to yield at the intersection.
Neither driver was hurt, but the traffic signal was damaged. Cross traffic on University was closed until just after 3 pm Monday while City of Topeka crews installed a traffic control utility box near the intersection.
