TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)--It's been five months in the making, but the penguins are in Topeka.
Tonight a select few were able to view the flippered family of South African penguins.
Guests dined on a South African themed meal and then it was time to see the new addition to the zoo,
It wasn't about just seeing the animals at the polar plunge. It was also about educating the public on the endangered species.
Visitors leaned about over-fishing, how to remove oil from a penguin's feathers and the dangers of guano mining.
The exhibit will open to the public on May 10th.
