Pastor Pulls Away From Pack To Take On Jenkins

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka pastor lengthened his lead over an attorney from Lawrence late Tuesday in the Democratic primary in the state's 2nd Congressional District.

Tobias Schlingensiepen kept about a 200-vote margin between himself and Robert Eye before starting to pull away in the late hours.

With 838 of 895 precincts reporting, the count was 11,366 for Schlingensiepen, 9,962 for Eye and 7,163 for Scott Barnhart.

The winner faces incumbent Republican Lynn Jenkins on the November ballot.

Jenkins and Schlingensiepen spoke with 13 News in Topeka Tuesday.
