ELLSWORTH -- One of the four men who escaped from the Ottawa County Jail last Wednesday is facing federal carjacking charges.
22-year old Eric James is named in an indictment with one count of carjacking.
The indictment says James assaulted the driver of a Nissan Altima on April 18th, and stole the Altima, on the same he and three other inmates held in state custody escaped from the county's lockup. The Ellsworth Prison is overcrowded, leading the State's Department of Corrections to hold them outside state prison walls.
James was arrested two days after the escape, in Omaha, Nebraska. If he's convicted on the new charge, he could face 25 years in jail and be forced to pay a $250,000 fine.
