TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County's newest judge officially took the bench Friday.
Carl "Bill" Ossman took his oath from Supreme Court Justice Marla Luckert. Family, friends and fellow judges from Shawnee County's 3rd Judicial District looked on.
Ossman was appointed the position left open when Judge Charles Andrews retired. Andrews passed away last month after battling cancer.
Ossman previously served as the chief litigation attorney in the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services. He also prosecuted criminal cases as a Shawnee County Chief Deputy District Attorney.
Ossman graduated from Washburn University.
