(WIBW) - A collision between a commercial truck and a car claimed the life of an elderly woman in Osage County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened around 3 pm Wednesday near Vassar.

KHP says 72-year-old Mary Hart of Vassar was leaving Doman General Store at Pomona Dam Road. She pulled her car onto K-268, pulling out in front of an oncoming Mack truck pulling an asphalt trailer. Her car ended up in the middle of K-268, while the truck stopped some 150 yards off the road in the middle of a pasture.

Hart was killed. The truck's driver, 42-year old Robert Smock of Grantville, suffered a possible injury.

Roads around the area were closed until after 9 pm Wednesday while authorities investigated the accident.
