TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Local students will be a lot warmer thanks to the generosity of a local organization.
Carolyn Campbell from the Capital Area Federated Democratic Women's Club donated hats, gloves and underwear to students at Scott Dual Language Magnet Elementary School.
The "Warms Program" was spearheaded 15 years ago by a past member who wanted to get the Women's Democratic Club out in the community.
Campbell had the chance to choose the school who would receive hats, scarves and gloves Monday afternoon.
"Sometimes we take things for granted and it's not the simple easy thing for a lot of our families and children, so it makes me feel good to know that we're making children happy and warm," said Campbell.
More than 175 warm items were donated Monday.
