TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)--One person was arrested Saturday morning after Shawnee County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a possible theft in progress which led to a vehicle pursuit.
Deputies were dispatched to the 2700 block of NW Button Road around 5:15 a.m.
Upon arrival, a deputy observed the suspect vehicle leaving the area and attempted to stop it. The vehicle failed to yield, initiating the pursuit.
Deputies lost sight of the vehicle but found it a short time later abandoned near NE Paramore and Quincy.
A second suspicious vehicle leaving the area within minutes of locating the truck was stopped. Deputies located the driver and passenger from the truck that had fled inside the second vehicle.
31-year-old Nathanial Mahkuk was arrested for fleeing and attempting to elude as well as multiple other traffic offenses.
The possible threat in progress remains under investigation.
