(WIBW) - A Kansas oil company is going public with its concerns over a proposed wind energy transmission line.

Kurt Mai, owner of Mai Oil in Russell, Kansas, took out a two-page ad in Monday's Topeka Capital Journal newspaper. It spells out his concerns over the proposed Grain Belt Express line.

The line would carry wind power from Kansas to states to the east, running from Dodge City, through Russell, Concordia, Marysville and Seneca.

Mai's ad includes photos of how he says the proposed route would, in effect, wipe out some of his production leases. He also raises concerns about the environmental impact and land values.

Grain Belt officials say the project would bring jobs and money to the state.

The Kansas Corporation Commission must make a decision on the route by November 17th.
