TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - More than 1400 Westar Energy customers in north Topeka were in the dark Monday night.

A power outage was reported just after 6:30 pm. According to an outage map on Westar's web site, the affected area was north and south of Highway 24, on the west side of North Topeka Blvd., between Menninger Road south to approximately Paramore Street.

Several businesses along North Topeka Blvd. were unable to provide services due to the outage. Dillons, WalMart, Walgreens and several fast food restaurants were among them.

Fewer than 150 customers remained off as of 8:30 pm. Westar estimated all power would be restored by 10:30 pm.

A cause for the outage wasn't immediately known. A utility pole was reported down in the 600 block of NW Lyman Rd., but it's not known if that was related.
