LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ Plans have been progressing for a $16 million water treatment plant outside of Lawrence.
Larry Wray, president of the Public Wholesale Water Supply District No. 25, said the district has received a necessary federal loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and has begun buying land for the project.
The plant would supply water to Douglas County Rural Water District No. 5 and Osage County Rural Water District No. 5.
The Lawrence Journal World reports (http://bit.ly/JTfT6A ) that the proposed wholesale water plant would give large water users, like Baldwin City and other rural water districts that buy from Lawrence, another option.
