TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Topeka Symphony Orchestra formally introduced their new music director and conductor.
Applause greeted Kyle Wiley Pickett during his official introduction Thursday at Washburn University.
Wiley Pickett says he is thrilled to be taking over the position. He says he is looking forward to working with a group of dedicated and talented musicians.
Pickett is the only the 4th conductor in the symphony's 68-year history. He says conductors tend to have a long tenure and he hopes he is no exception.
Among his plans, Wiley Pickett says he wants to take the music out to the streets so everyone can experience what the symphony has to offer.
