TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A new report shows that the efforts of one local organization means big benefits for Topeka and Shawnee County.

Go Topeka's 2012 economic impact report shows that the city and county will receive over $4.1 million in revenue over the next ten years due to their efforts in retaining jobs and bringing new jobs to the area.

The report shows that last year, Go Topeka helped bring 220 new jobs to the area, and retain 167 existing jobs.

Go Topeka says the data is encouraging even after the job losses as Jostens and Hallmark.

"We're trying to continue to offset those losses that we have seen, that's what Go Topeka staff focuses on is bringing in those new jobs, and keeping the jobs we have here," said Dawn Wright, Vice President of Economic Development with Go Topeka.

Wright says that Go Topeka is working with 10 other companies looking to expand, and 24 companies who are potentially looking to bring new projects to Topeka.
