TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A new student-run bank at Silver Lake High School is open for business.

A ribbon cutting was held Friday for the new Golden Eagle Bank. It's a partnership between Silver Lake High School and Silver Lake Bank.

Silver Lake Bank also established a bank at Washburn Rural High School in 2005, and officials say they've already seen great success from the program.

"I know two students that have been offered positions within a college and were only accepted because what set them apart was that they worked at the school bank," said Amanda Monhollon, Assistant Vice President Branch Manager at Silver Lake Bank. "They received a grade, got accounting, banking, marketing, they got all the aspects you can ask for."

10 students will run the bank at Silver Lake High School.
