Neighbor Alerts Home Owner To House Fire

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)--A neighbor woke a house owner up after his home caught fire Saturday morning.

Kevin Hull works the night shift and was asleep in his home at 213 SW Taylor when a neighbor knocked on his door, alerting him that the house was on fire.

The fire was reported around 9:50 a.m. and was extinguished by 10:15 a.m.

Three cats died, including a mother cat with kittens. An unknown number of other cats and dogs were given oxygen at the scene.

A cause of the fire is unknown.

There is no word on the cost of damage. Hull did say the house was insured.
