TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County prosecutors will be able to use statements a man accused in a murder case made to police.

A judge made that ruling Friday during a motions hearing for Gabino Alcala. He is among four people charged with murder and conspiracy in last October's death of Ashley Alcala.

Gabino was her brother-in-law. His brother, Ashley's husband Manuel, along with their mother, Manuela, and another man, Benjamin Anaya, also are charged.

Gabino Alcala's trial is set for October 21st. Manuel and Manuela Alcala will be tried together starting October 7th. Anaya has a hearing Sept. 12 on his current attorney's motion to withdraw from the case.
