TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The man charged with killing his friend and business partner is declining to reveal financial information.
An attorney for Monroe Lockhart appeared on his behalf at a docket hearing Thursday. Shawnee Co. District Court records show attorney Linda Eckelman informed the judge that Lockhart will not sign a financial affidavit.
The record shows Eckelman was appointed conditionally to represent Lockhart on charges of murder and arson in the January 2012 death of Corey Brown. An October 17th hearing is set. The record lists it as a motions hearing. Prosecutors say it is to check on the status of an attorney for Lockhart.
Lockhart is being held on $1 million bond on the murder charges. He already was sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison on aggravated battery charges in an unrelated case.
