Mulvane Art Museum Features Post-World War II Works

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Long-hidden works from the Mulvane Art Museum's permanent collection are now in the spotlight.

The museum on Washburn University's campus opened a new exhibit Tuesday featuring works from the post-World War II era.

Most are oil paintings. Artists created them from 1948 to 1961.

Museum officials say they've long wanted to show these unique creations from artists like Hobart Hays, Jim Hunt and Robert Sudlow, describing them as colorful and bold.

The Mulvane Art Museum is open from 10 am to 7 pm Tuesday, 10 am to 5 pm Wednesday thru Friday and 1 to 4 pm Saturday and Sunday. In addition, the museum and ArtLab will be closed from Monday, December 17, through Tuesday, January 1, 2013.

The exhibit runs through January 20, 2013.
