Motorcycle Accident Sends One To Hospital

TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)-- One person was sent to the hospital after a motorcycle encountered a deer.

Shawnee County Sheriff's were called to the scene around 9:45 Saturday night.

54-year-old Thomas Gross was driving westbound on NW 62nd Street near Elmont Road when a deer entered the roadway. He attempted to avoid the deer but ended up striking it and laying the motorcycle down.

The passenger, 49-year-old Kayla Gross, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. Thomas received minor injuries.

Kayla was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
