VALLEY CENTER (KAKE) -- Sedgwick County Sheriff's investigators have arrested four people in connection to the shootings of Melissa and Roger Bluml in Valley Center late last week.
Melissa Bluml, 53, and her husband Roger, were found shot near their home on North 109th Street near Valley Center last Friday night. Melissa Bluml later died. Her husband is still in critical condition at a Wichita hospital.
During a news briefing Wednesday morning, Captain Gregory Pollock said four people are in custody:
The first is 18-year-old Anthony J. Bluml, the adopted son of the couple. He was booked on First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder and Burglary.
His biological mother, 35-yearj-old Kisha D. Schaberg of San Diego, California was also arrested on those charges as well as Aggravated Robbery.
Two others, 18-year-old Andrew W. Ellington and 18-year-old Braden M. Smith, both of Park City, were also arrested in connection. Ellington was booked for First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, Burglary and Aggravated Robbery. Smith was booked for First Degree Murder and Attempted First Degree Murder.
Captain Pollock said detectives and forensic investigators are still actively working the case so they're unable to provide any further details at this point, as he doesn't want to jeopardize the prosecution. They continue, with help from other agencies, to search for evidence at various locations in Sedgwick County and expect that to be completed today.
Sheriff investigators are set to meet with the district attorney's office later this week to discuss formal charges.
