Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) - Another algae advisory has been placed on Milford Lake.
Blue-green algae was detected on a portion of the Milford Reservoir.
Boating and fishing in the lake may be safe but direct contact with the water is strongly discouraged for people, pets and livestock.
Contact can cause allergic reactions, vomiting and death.
The first advisory was placed on Milford Lake in mid-June and lifted just before 4th of July.
Other lakes under advisories include Atchison County Park Lake, Centralia Lake, Brown County State Fishing Lake, Herington Reservoir, Lake Scott State Park, and Lovewell Reservoir.
Warning statuses have been placed on Chisholm Creek North Lake, Harvey County East lake, Marion Reservoir, Logan City Lake, Memorial/Veterans Lake-Great Bend and South Lake Park.
