TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Helping an accident victim earned two Topeka Rescue Mission workers the title "Champions of Character."
Marcus Anthony Wyatt and Franklin Bernard Prescher, Jr. received honors Wednesday at the monthly Safe Streets meeting.
The men sprang into action when a man who was staying at the Rescue Mission was struck by a train. Wyatt and Prescher assisted the man, who was not seriously injured, while still dealing with their other duties, including two less-serious emergencies at the mission going on at the same time.
Wyatt and Prescher were nominated by Mike Foster, who is the director of ministry operations at the Topeka Rescue Mission.
