Memorial Day Travel Is Down Slightly According To AAA

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Not as many Americans will be getting away this Memorial Day Weekend.

According to AAA 34.8 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home for the official start of the summer travel season.

That is a point 0.9% dip from 2012. Roughly 31 million drivers are expected to hit the road, that's a slight uptick from 2012.

This comes as gas prices nation wide are at their highest in two years, with the national average gas price at $3.66 cents a gallon.
