(WIBW) - Memorial services are set for a Shawnee Heights student who lost her life to a sudden virus.

A visitation for 15-year-old Lexie Salmon will be held from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene. Funeral services are 11 am Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions can be made to Children's Mercy Hospital for a future health center or preservation of the original chapel or to Helping Hands Humane Society.

Salmon died Wednesday night. She'd been hospitalized a week with a sudden virus that doctors say was attacking her organs, destroying her liver to the point she needed a transplant. The softball player had just completed her sophomore year at Shawnee Heights High School.
