Memorial Day Remembrance At Kansas Veterans' Cemetery

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Veterans' in attendance for a ceremony at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Riley say it's not only a duty, but an honor to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Family, friends and comrades of fallen veterans took this solemn moment to remember our fallen veterans', guest speaker Retired Command Sergeant Major, Ian Mann, urged those in attendance not to forget or take for granted the sacrifices fallen soldiers have made for this country.

One veteran on hand for today's ceremony says he will take this moment to remember, but he's also going to enjoy this moment for those who can't.

"I'm very proud to be a veteran, but I'm glad bot to be honored on this day. This is for those that paid the ultimate sacrifice and I thank them very much," Patrick Lynch, Veteran.

Waterloo, New York is the official birthplace of Memorial Day.
