TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Scam artists appear to be targeting people on Medicare.
The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services' Senior Medicare Patrol says people are receiving phone calls telling them Medicare will be issuing them a new card. To complete the process, the caller tells me, they need to give their confidential banking information.
Officials say the call is a trick. They say the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services does not make cold calls or solicit bank information.
Anyone with questions should contact the Senior Medicare patrol at 785-296-0377.
