TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Advocates for the medically underserved converged on the statehouse to encourage legislatures to keep supporting safety net clinics.

Advocates say the clinics are a vital part of Kansas communities, ensuring the most vulnerable Kansans receive dental, mental health and primary care.

Supporters say the health safety net deters long ER waits and drives down health care costs.

The fifteen clinics represented at the statehouse not only address their clients' acute needs, but also encourage preventative measures to keep them healthy.
